Now Accepting Board Nominations

We’re now accepting nominations for the SPHO-NJ Board of Directors positions that are up for election this year. If you or someone you know is passionate about shaping the future of SPHO-NJ and advocating for our Standardbred community, we encourage you to get involved.

Up For Election:

  • Vice President
    Currently held by Colleen Nolan-Tran

  • Corresponding Secretary/Treasurer (Must be a New Jersey resident)

    Currently held by Debra McCluskey ·

  • Marketing/Communications

    Currently held by Taylor Benson

All Board of Directors positions serve a two-year term. To ensure continuity, the board operates on a staggered election cycle: half of the positions are up for election this year, and the remaining half will be elected next year. Incumbents are welcome to run again.

Newly elected members will begin their terms on December 1, 2026 (the start of the 2027 competition year) and serve through November 30, 2028.

Nominations are open now through October 10.

Following the nomination period:

  • Voting will take place October 16-31

  • Election results will be announced in November

  • New board members will take office December 1, 2026
