The SPHO-NJ is a non-profit organization founded to promote the Standardbred as a pleasure riding and driving horse by exposing the public to their performances through equine events. Whatever the discipline is, eventing, western pleasure, driving, hunter/jumper, trail riding, or dressage, our mission is to let the public know that the Standardbred is a very versatile breed.
We offer information on shows and paces, participate in local horse shows, parades, paces, and exhibitions to promote the breed. Our membership offers an optional year-end awards program. Our rule book is on the awards program link. It includes class specifications, as well as a description of the year-end awards program in detail. An annual awards banquet is held every year in February, to honor our members and their horses who earned year-end awards.
Our monthly meetings are open to members for updates on events, news, and more.
Membership is open to anyone, anywhere, whether you own a horse or not. Our membership/show year is defined as November 1st to October 31st of the specific year. The membership application on the Membership link.
One event is the annual National Standardbred Horse Show that is held in August. SPHO-NJ is one of the two sponsors of the prestigious horse show.
